Maui Luau Guide: How to Book

You book a luau on Maui directly with the luau company, not through KBM, because none of our properties host one on-site. Choose a show, reserve with that company, and book as early as your dates are set, since popular shows commonly sell out in peak seasons. If you tell our concierge which property you are staying in, we are happy to share a few recommendations at concierge@kbmresorts.com.

How booking works with KBM

None of our properties host a luau on-site, so there is no luau to add to your reservation with us. Luaus are booked directly with each individual luau company. If you would like a starting point, email our concierge at concierge@kbmresorts.com and tell us which property you are staying in. We will share a few recommendations that suit where you are staying. From there, you reserve your own seats with the company you choose.

The three shows our concierge recommends

Our concierge team points guests to three trusted local options. Old Lahaina Luau is in Lahaina. Drums of the Pacific is at the Hyatt Regency Maui in Kaanapali, and Wailele Luau is at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa, also in Kaanapali. Each evening brings Polynesian and Hawaiian music and dance in its own setting. Old Lahaina Luau closed after the August 2023 Lahaina wildfire and reopened on March 12, 2024, as reported by Maui Now and Hawaii Magazine, so we suggest confirming its current status when you book.

When to book

Luaus in peak seasons, roughly December through April and June through August, commonly sell out weeks ahead according to travel guides. Old Lahaina Luau is reported to book out months ahead. The simplest approach is to reserve as soon as your travel dates are set. If your dates fall outside those months you may find more choice, but booking early still removes one thing to think about once you arrive. Sunset in Hawaii generally lands between about 6:45 and 7:15 p.m. depending on the season, which is worth keeping in mind as you plan the rest of your day.

Choosing by where you stay

Our West Maui resorts at Kaanapali, Napili and Kapalua are the nearest KBM stays to these three shows. If you are staying in one of them, an evening out can fit easily around your day. Guests staying in Wailea or Kihei should plan for drive time from South Maui. Consider who is driving home afterward, and arrange the evening so no one is rushing. Our concierge can help you match a show to your property when you write to us.

Other evening options

If a luau is not the right fit for your group, our concierge can also arrange a sunset dinner cruise. Some of these cruises are adults-only, so tell us who is traveling. Boats from Kaanapali Beach involve wading knee-deep to board, while boats from Lahaina or Ma'alaea Harbor load from a dry dock. For a daytime activity, we can arrange a Molokini snorkel cruise with Sail Maui, which departs from Ma'alaea only. Email concierge@kbmresorts.com with your property and dates and we will help you plan.

Please confirm current show days, times, prices and availability directly with the luau company before you plan your evening.
